Clear Hills Youth Treatment Centre (CHYTC) is inviting applications for a Full-Time, Part-Time, Casual Youth Support Worker.

CHYTC is seeking a self-motivated, highly experienced individual to fulfill the role of Youth Support Worker. This is a meaningful opportunity to support youth ages 12–17 on their healing journey, with a focus on recovery, wellness, and cultural reconnection.

Youth come to our program from across Canada, and as part of our multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide guidance, supervision, and encouragement in a supportive, holistic environment.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting to the CHYTC Team Lead, the Youth Support Worker’s primary role is to provide direct youth support, advocacy, and mentorship to clients on behalf of the CHYTC.

REQUIRED EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONS

  • Support – Provides direct support to clients through one-to-one or in a group setting to clients in fulfilling program objectives and goals
  • Advocacy – Provides advocacy for clients through resourceful support to meet and achieve program delivery.
  • Mentorship – Provides direct mentorship for clients promoting self-esteem, awareness, and healthy choices.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements to promote health and safety.
  • Quality Improvement – Assists in implementing and monitoring quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall service delivery outcomes.
  • Collaboration – Works closely with the CHYTC Team Lead and staff in meeting client goals and program requirements.
  • Policy and Standards – Ensures compliance with CHYTC operational policies and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Human Services Field, or
  • Certification in addiction field an asset
  • High School Diploma with a minimum of three (3) years experience working with youth
  • Up-to date Suicide Intervention Skills Training, First Aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Computer literacy (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • A Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) and a Child Welfare Intervention Check.
  • Self-control, ability to maintain composure, keep emotions in check, control anger, and avoid aggressive behaviour, even in demanding situations.
  • Openness to personal growth and commitment to continuous professional learning.
  • Knowledge and or understanding of First Nations Culture and Traditions.

CHYTC is a treatment centre that supports up to 10 youth at a time, each with unique needs.  We are located 5 minutes from Hythe, Alberta, and approximately 40 minutes from Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Our program integrates cultural recognition, ceremony, traditional practices, education, life skills, family involvement, and land-based teachings.
